Got Your B.A.C.K. – Going Forward Campaign Workshop (45-60 Mins)

Step 1: Helping young people be the friends their grieving classmates need.

Got Your B.A.C.K. – Going Forward Campaign Talk Highlights

Students will learn how to get involved to help their peers.

B – Be in their shoes

Understand what grief might feel like for a friend, how it can affect emotions, behaviour, and everyday life

A – Awareness. Acknowledge. Ask.

Trust your gut when you sense something is wrong, acknowledge what you’re noticing, and ask your friend if they’re okay or what they might need

C – Commit to showing up

Stay by their side over time, even when it’s awkward or hard, keep showing up in small, meaningful ways

K – Kindness in Action

Take positive steps to show solidarity through a social action project, put compassion into practice by making a visible difference in your school community

The Got Your B.A.C.K. – Going Forward Awareness Talk can be delivered by one of Fresh Mind’s trained facilitators, or by teachers who complete the Youth Bereavement Teacher Training.

Fresh Mind’s are passionate about training young leaders with a heart for this work to help deliver alongside staff.

This 45-minute workshop (allowing 1 hour to include resource distribution and evaluation) equips students with empathy, understanding, and confidence to be the kind of friend who can say: “I’ve got your back.”
Suitable for different age groups, with adaptations as needed

Designed for groups from 10 up to 80 students per session

Can be delivered in an assembly, LLW Classes, or workshop setting

Step 2: Step Forward Together Social Action Campaign

Put learning into action by empowering your students to lead meaningful projects in solidarity with grieving young people.

Social Action Fundraising (preferred option)

We ask schools to commit to a minimum fundraising target of £500 as part of their participation. This can be raised through a student-led social action project, bringing the school community together to stand in solidarity with bereaved young people while raising funds to help us continue this vital work. By undertaking the social action fundraising option you are also completing STEP 2 – STEP FORWARD TOGETHER!

Alternative option – one-off donation:
If your school is unable to commit to a Step 2 Social Action fundraiser, you can choose instead to invest in the campaign with a suggested donation of £350 to cover the cost of the workshop and contribute to our wider work.

What your fundraiser or donation covers:

✔ The Got Your B.A.C.K. – Going Forward Awareness Workshop facilitated by our team

✔ Want more than 1 workshop for your school – we’ve got your B.A.C.K.! Add an extra £125 target to your donation or fundraising target for every extra awareness workshop that you would like facilitated for your school.

Extra features for fabulous fundraisers!

for more information click on STEP 2: STEP FORWARD TOGETHER!

✔ Ideas to get you going

✔ Downloadable campaign posters to promote your social action fundraiser

✔ A dedicated fundraising page for your school, created by Fresh Minds Education

✔ FME will feature your school on the charity Got Your Back Campaign Wall of Fame – you can share this fabulous achievement throughout school platforms & social media.

Plus:

🏆 Every school will be entered into a friendly competition to see who can raise the most. The top fundraising school will receive a package of bereavement support resources for their school community.

🎨 And for students: the top individual fundraiser across all participating schools will receive a commissioned artist’s drawing of them wearing our Got Your B.A.C.K. t-shirt, a unique keepsake to honour their achievement.

We encourage every school to aim even higher than the minimum target, knowing that every extra pound raised helps us reach more grieving young people and ensure no child faces grief alone.

Be part of the movement.

Together, we can make sure every grieving young person knows their friends have their back… going forward.
