What is Glimmer Grief Counselling?

You don’t have to face grief alone

At Fresh Minds Education, we call our service Glimmer Counselling, because even in the heaviest moments of grief or distress, a small glimmer can make a difference. A glimmer of connection, a glimmer of warmth, a glimmer of hope.

Our gentle one-to-one support offers a safe and caring space for adults, children, and families to share what’s on their hearts. Whether it’s through counselling, resilience coaching, or parent–child sessions, we walk alongside you, helping you feel less alone, more understood, and gently supported towards healing.

As a small charity, our services are made possible by donations and volunteer support. This means our spaces are limited, and completing the referral form does not guarantee support. However, every referral is read with care and compassion, and if we can offer you a space, we will contact you directly.

Frequently Asked Questions…

• Adults (18 years+) seeking support must complete the form for themselves.

• Parents or legal guardians must complete the form on behalf of a child or young person under 18.

We wish we could support everyone who reaches out. Sadly, our limited capacity means we must prioritise based on the needs of those presenting and the goals of our charity. We always approach this with fairness, compassion, and care.

For adults, we prioritise:

• Parents and carers bereaved through the loss of a baby or child

• Adults who were bereaved as a child

• Parents and carers raising bereaved children

• People in acute distress (suicidal thoughts, self-injury, isolation, or little/no previous support)

• People experiencing poverty and unable to pay for private support

• Those able to travel to our counselling locations (Antrim & Castledawson). Where appropriate, online sessions may be offered

• In some cases, our funders have specific requirements which we must apply

For children and young people (under 18), we prioritise:

• Bereaved children and young people

• Children and young people experiencing significant emotional distress

• Support is offered in person in Antrim & Castledawson

• In some cases, our funders have specific requirements which we must apply

What to expect next

We are deeply grateful for the generosity that makes our counselling and coaching services possible. Because we receive more referrals than we can support, only a limited number of places are available.

• We carefully review all applications.

• If you don’t hear from us, it means a space was not available at this time. Your application may be placed on a waiting list, and we’ll contact you if a place becomes available.

• As a very small team without dedicated admin support, we’re unable to respond to individual enquiries about application status.

• We will never reply by direct message, all communication will come by email.

Thank you for your understanding and trust.

If you’re ready, you can begin your referral form now. It takes around 10–15 minutes to complete.
